A for Love

"All together, no one alone. All different, all equal."

A Greek non-profit organization for vulnerable social groups — stray animals, people with disabilities, migrants, deaf community, elderly, children. We act with love, consistency and real deeds, in a circular society of reciprocity.

Who We Are

The NGO "A for Love" operates in Athens supporting vulnerable social groups: stray animals, people with disabilities, migrants & refugees, the deaf community, elderly people, children from institutions. We believe change starts with actions — not words.

It was institutionalized as an NGO in 2023, but its core existed long before as a group of people with a shared vision — each member bringing their own years of volunteer work and experience with vulnerable groups.

🌱 Our Roots — Before the NGO

Before being institutionalized as an NGO in 2023, the vision was born as an informal group of people with one common goal: to give back to vulnerable social groups. That group was called "A for Love" — the name and soul we inherited.

🕯️ In his memory

The group was started by Sotiris Perakis, who also wrote a book about its work and philosophy. He has passed away, but his sowing continues through every action we take. To him we owe the name — and much more.

✨ Our spiritual patron

A life's work. Its foundation and inspiration come not only from Sotiris, but also from our angel and supporter, Saint Jude Thaddaeus — the patron saint of desperate and hopeless souls. Every such living being becomes a small lighthouse with abundant light; we simply help it find its light, and all together we build the Lighthouse of Love with a capital L.

Our Circular Philosophy

Society — like the universe — does not work vertically. Everything is interconnected and interdependent. Everything blossoms in a circular society of reciprocity. The migrant helps the animal, the animal touches the child, the child raises awareness in the parent, the parent supports the elderly neighbor. The wave returns.

"All together, no one alone. All different, all equal."

This philosophy runs through everything in the NGO — from our actions to the vision of the Lighthouse of Love: a Lighthouse that not only sheds light but illuminates the circular paths of love.

PROGRAM: THE LIGHTHOUSE OF LOVE

Our vision for a model center where all groups will meet — animals, people with disabilities, migrants, deaf community, elderly, children — under one roof of love and mutual support.

"Every living being is a small lighthouse with abundant light. We simply help it find its light. And all together — the small lighthouses — we build the Lighthouse of Love with a capital L."

"Imagine a space where a migrant trains a dog, a child with a disability watches them play, a deaf volunteer teaches sign language to elders. That is the Lighthouse of Love."

Our Journey

From the informal group actions of Sotiris Perakis and the long-standing volunteer work of our members, to the establishment of the NGO and the vision of the Lighthouse of Love.

The model we are building

Every Greek lesson to a refugee, every visit to an elderly center, every walk with a dog, every sign language word learned — is a brick of the Lighthouse of Love being built slowly but surely.
